Premier vows to implement all recommendations in Dyble report
VICTORIA/CKNW (AM980)

Premier Christy Clark is vowing to implement all of the recommendations in John Dyble's report on the ethnic outreach scandal, including possible disciplinary action.

In fact, a third person has now resigned in the wake of the report, Mike Lee, the former executive assistant to John Yap, has resigned without severance.

Lee was cited in the report for breaching the code of conduct in his work helping liaison workers apply for government contracts.

And Clark says Yap himself will not return to cabinet.

"As well as leader, I've instructed my party to reimburse the government for any costs as deemed necessary by the comptroller general as required by the financial administration act.  Further, I've spoken with MLA John Yap who at the outset of this review did the right thing and he stepped aside from his cabinet post. He agrees it is appropriate for him not to return to cabinet at this time.  He will continue to serve his constituents, and our caucus."

Clark says the Liberal party has already written a cheque for 70-thousand dollar to reimburse the government for resources that were misused, including part of the salary of former communications manager Brian Bonney.

@Ron_26 add to that leadership quality, calling an inquiry into BC Rail - that would be true leadership

Premier Clark's decision to have "my party-the BC Liberal party- reimburse the government for any costs..." means the BC Liberal party owes a debt to the government. That is in addition to the cheque already cut for $70-thousand.

However, the Deputy Minister of Finance may have the authority under the terms of the "Financial Administration ACt" to make that debt magically disappear.

If the Deputy Minister of Finance has the authority to forgive a debt of $6 million in connection with BC Rail, what's a few hundred thousand dollars? That's chump change.

Surely, for such a paltry sum, the Deputy Minister of Finance can take this action without going back to cabinet?

Well , there is no doubt that Sean has reported the news...but the fact that he can maintain a neutral tone in the face of yet another sorry coverup by the most corrupt government BC has ever lived through lowers my opinion of his reporting capabilities even further .
One might as turn to WX 1130 for their news .. as the depth of reporting at CKNW is about the same .

@ChrisM_18 While this government has done some dumb things . . . calling them "most corrupt government in BC" . . . is just not true.
The Most Corrupt government in the history of BC was the 90's Dippers . . . all THREE Premiers RESIGNED because of Conflict and Criminal issues . . . and the money they spent on the Fast Ferries was 100's of MILLIONS . . . as in 700 million. Clark even Fired the Marine Architect that told him the Ferries would not work . . . before Construction began.
I lived through 10 years of destruction in the 90's . . . no wage increases for 10 years and we were one of the HIGHEST TAXED provinces in Canada back then.
It seems almost HALF the population of BC envie the folks in Manitoba and places like Spain and Greece . . . laughable and foolish ! ! !

Just when you thought the Ledge in Victoria couldn't stink any worse than West Coast Reduction, 40 years ago, on August 15th, before all the fancy equipment installation to reduce odour was installed, along came this bomb. It makes a citizen/taxpayer wonder if the government has not lost it's mind!
I guess this only fortifies my original thought of the Liberals being so arrogant they were considered 'untouchables'. This really is the pip of pips, and to remotely think CC didn't know about this entire ethnic stink bomb is beyond absurd.
Why doesn't she do the admirable thing, walk in tomorrow morning, F the press conference, and announce to her pack of arrogant low IQ'd fellow Liberals, she is taking a powder. How much stupidity can one woman endure? Then bolt for the Victoria airport, and take the first plane to anywhere, and from there, vanish for 6 months. I've done it, and it was like winning all the lotos in Canada in a month, and I took my secretary with me, which relieved me of another burden. I know you read this dribble, CC, so give it a whirl!

Remember that Premier Clark ordered an investigation "to ensure no taxpayer funds were inappropriately used (paraphrased)?"

Was that wishful thinking or what? Or, perhaps she was pre-determining the outcome but John Dyble wisely determined otherwise..."Taxed to Death" Right on, it's 70k and counting. We'll get over the 100k limit sooner than later-then what?

    A cabinet decision?

Why are ALL the parties involved with this not being put on Non paid leave for 22.4 years as a mild form of punishment.

That would prove that wrong doing is not condoned by this honest lieberal government to me.ia

As she should vow, and do.
As they should pay and have.

I was just thinking(a dangerous thing for any non Liberal to do) if the Liberals have been in the public's VO cylindrical change container on the end of the bedroom dresser, where else have they had their honey laden little fingers? They must be like kids in a candy store. If Christy packs it in, and I put 2 to 1 odds on that, I can only hope she takes that swindling, lying Coleman with her. The way things are going, the suspected 9 seats, a week ago, will plummet to 0(that's a zero). Then, what will the Socreds re-incarnate themselves into? Let's all start suggesting new names.
