First Nation says it has unanswered questions after B.C.'s LNG conference

A coastal First Nation is responding to comments made by the premier at last week's conference on liquefied natural gas.

Marven Robinson, of the Gitga'at First Nation in Hartley Bay, says members came away from the conference in Vancouver with many unanswered questions.

"You know, we're not against it, but we're not fully informed yet. We have to have all the information in front of us before we can make an informed decision."

He points to issues such as air quality, with an LNG export plant planned for nearby Kitimat.

Other Gitga'at members say it's like there's a “gold rush mentality” on the coast with many other LNG projects proposed.

"We were dealing with, you know, let's say two or three LNG plants in Kitimat – proposals. And then all of a sudden another one pops up, and now they're popping up all over. We've got two or three in Prince Rupert that will affect our territory."

@KenL_6250 You made a valid comment and then ruined all at once.
Hartley Bay is where the first-on-the-scene and rescuers for the Queen of the North sinking came from. They should be held in high regard for their courage and quick life saving help.

@KenL_6250 Hartley Bay is just north of Gil Island where the BC Ferry sank. These were the folks that got up in the middle of the night, got in their boats and rescued all those people on the sinking ferry.
The reason you have not heard from them (Hartley Bay) is because you only listen to main stream media and they (the media) are not interested.
