No jail time for a young man who posted obscene photos online of a teenage girl having sex at a rave in Pitt Meadows.

Dennis Warrington, who pleaded guilty in December, has been sentenced to a conditional discharge and 18-months probation.

In September of 2010, he posted the graphic images of the 16-year old victim who maintains she was a victim of rape.

His parents must be so proud.

WTF??? Another example of an out of touch judge.

What is needed is some parenting for this young man ,so he develops a sense of morality .
In this case ,spending time in jail will punish him, but won't make him a better person. !

In the same way as the cops can't catch everyone that is speeding, they obviously didn't catch everybody who was involved in this sickening incident. With the ones that are caught, the courts should set an example with a penalty that hopefully will deter and denounce the conduct and let others know that similar conduct will be dealt with similarly severely if they are caught. That didn't happen in this case. No doubt the convicted kid got up in a carefully choreographed display of remorse, and it seems the courts buy it every time. The victim is still paying for it, while this guy and his buddies walk away with either an insignificant penalty or nothing. The courts completely failed the victim in this case.

The behavior displayed by these individuals is appauling! If my kids acted in this manner their punishment would still not have expired. And what gets me most I was I was sent to Oakalla decades ago for such a harmless crime.....shoplifting to be exact. I think these judges should not work past sixty, they fall asleep during trials and wake up thinking that they have appropriately handed a sentence that will please the public and send a message. Supreme court of Canada needs to assess all Provincial Judges annually to see if they are up to the task at hand. Bozos

@HedgeH My parents made sure I knew what was wrong behaviour (and why it was wrong) and they also made sure that I knew if I did something wrong , the trouble I would be in at home would be far more significant than what the teacher or cop would hand out.
Like any kid , I did do some fairly thoughtless things that did hurt others, and after my parents got through making me apologize in person, I did suffer significant consequences .

I doubt Mr Warrington has had the same level of training !

I guess I missed the original story; either that or forgot about it and was overwhelmed by important stories about the Kardashians or other relevant individuals.

If I have it right the girl is raped (at least by her claims) and the guy taking the picture and posting it on line is charged. Somewhere I think we have our priorities a little mixed up here. Why wasn't the 'rapist' or 'rapists' charged with rape? They seemed to have all the evidence they needed - a PICTURE of the perpetrator and a statement from the 'victim'. Of course the photographer isn't exactly a prize either; sadly a commentary on the values of far too many younger people today (written by an aging fossil that believes a real man would step in when a young lady is in distress - how I hate to use the words "man" or "lady" in this case - they seem so inappropriate).

Another question that I guess one shouldn't ask in polite society; why were the parents allowing a 16 year old girl to go to a rave? Do they not know the meaning of "no" or how to say it? Maybe they didn't want to hurt her feelings by saying the 'n' word. Maybe they were just too busy watching the Kardashians to get too involved with their daughter. I may be being hard on the parents; but just because some people can have children doesn't mean they should be allowed to have them.
