Two people onboard a sail boat that ran aground in Point Grey are okay.

John Millman with the Coast Guard says the call came in around 1:30 this afternoon.

"It's right off the first beacon, on your way in, there's a beacon on your way into Spanish Banks."

Millman says coast guard crews from Sea Island were on-scene in about ten minutes.

He says coast guard management has directed crews to respond to any questions about the Kitsilano Coast Guard Base as "no comment."

The boat is believed to be a rental belonging to a private company.

I'd answer "no comment" if I was talking to the "reporter" too.

Well that's just amazing, 2 'reported' incidents in 2 days and help arrived both times within 11 minutes. How are they ever going to manage without the Jericho station?

Someone at NW must be listening to marine radio.

Yes, I suppose the crews have been directed to respond " no comment" to any questions regarding the closing of the busiest Coast Guard Base in the West Coast. 11 minute response time you say.....can you imagine how many trips you will have to make to the English Bay/Kitisilano/Jericho/Lacarno/2nd and 3rd beach areas once the weather warms up a little more and heaven help us ...what about summer! Global news is reporting a response time of 30 minutes this morning on their news cast what are the facts I wonder?
Thankfully there were no lives in peril, and Point Grey beacon is as far west as our beachs go. Re-open Kitsilano Base before someone dies, quick!

Is it not interesting that their is always the one person{Conservative, CSIS,Hack} that is responding to all the Coast Guard station closing responses. Some Newshound eh!
Anybody says anythting they are put down and told they are wrong.
Isnt it funny that Newshound only responds to Coast Guard Closing? No other sites?
