The terms of reference for an internal review involving the inappropriate use of government resources to win ethnic votes have now been laid out.

Premier Christy Clark's Deputy Minister John Dyble --BC's top civil servant-- was named Thursday to head up the review which includes the Premier's Office, as well as various ministries.

Interviews are slated to begin immediately with findings expected as 'expeditiously as possible.'

Dyble's team of investigators include Deputy Finance Minister Peter Milburn, Lynda Tarras who heads up the BC Public Service Agency and Kim Henderson, a Deputy Minister with Citizens' Services and Open Government.

They're also expected to produce a written report.

A written report.......by absolutely unbiased appointees, ...... people who have nothing to gain if the Liberals are re-elected.

This is done solely to intimidate other's who may want to disclose the truth to the Public.

@Garp such fast action by the Liberals can only be intended to intimidate and stop further leaks and to provide some feeble excuse for their actions.

In my view, people have a public duty to disclose corruption like this - how else does the public become aware of discreditable conduct? Let's also call an inquiry into BC Rail and Basi Virk payments, we have been waiting for that for some time now.

It was a stupid decision in the first place I have spoken to a few Indo Canadians, they are insulted that they would be used as pawns to get Christy Clark elected, many are blue conservatives on the federal scene, a bull shit idea by bull shit people in the BC government

Shameful. But when only half the folks turn out for a vote we get what we deserve.

It shows the real interest of voters in BC. If they have a six pack, a hockey game, and a water ski boat. Most don't even care what their governments are doing let alone know. Run an election during the Stanley Cup play-offs and see how many show up.

@MichaelD_10 They from the liberal/cons of the coalition, will be coming to fill your ranks with more of the same! You do know there will be a power struggle as soon as they get all cozy and the take over of your beloved Con/liberals of a Coalition? or whatever you will call it!! With this corruption coming from the affluent of the Elite. The average guy will not commit, you people made this work for the ruling class, with most of the middle class, being sold down the river and you want your protectionist, Free Enterprise parties in power to serve just you and not the rest of BC. GO NDP GO

@MichaelD_10 You are right - voting should be mandatory . Democracy is a priiveledge not a right !

A review of what? We know the Liberals used their office to obtain a personal benefit- they have not denied that.

Why do the Liberals want to find out before the election who made the leak? Me thinks they protest too much - what else is out there?

Wow, based on those "investigators" I can write the report from right here, right now.

"We have found no instance of inappropriate use of government time or money."

Saved you the time Christy. You're welcome.

@Fate I guess maybe we should all apply for jobs as government scandal investigators. Now that is a guaranteed paycheque, no matter who is in power.
Hmm wonder if there's a course I could take at Kwantlen for that. Off to google now.

I wonder how many of the documents will be found to have been back dated? Oh, sorry. Wrong party.

@4645 there will be many newly created and backdated self serving memos

The Premier would have us believe that all this is news to her, and that the staff IN HER OWN OFFICE undertook this without her knowledge or sanction. I think not. She's either a liar or at best extremely incompetent. Either way she needs to step down, election pending or not. never mind some phony investigation done by her own subordinates.
    1. SlimP_9860 posted on 03/02/2013 03:36 PM
@JimC_9706 With the BC Liberals code of ethics, an obvious conflict of interest is unimportant to them. And relative to the size of frauds such as BC Rail, it becomes almost insignificant. Like someone with leprosy noticing that they have a pimple.

And now Kim Haastad takes a quick bullet on behalf of her boss- presumably she will exit stage left quickly and be nowhere to be seen during the investigation !!

@ChrisM_18 100 points for breaking the story BEFORE CKNW!
    2. JimC_9706 posted on 03/01/2013 06:45 PM
@ChrisM_18 Exactly, doesn't have to answer any questions if she has "resigned." That's why somebody with some teeth should be conducting the investigation. Haastad is one of Clark's best galpals though, so I'm sure Clark will fit her in somewhere else. All Clark has done by throwing us this "bone" is show more contempt for the citizens of BC.

Classic liberal tactic. Hire a fox because chickens are missing.

    Than blame the neighbors cat.

There will be absolutely no wrong doing on the part of the government to be found as staff is allowed to make all decisions instead of bothering our busy multi hearted ethnic temporary preemie who will pretend she is innocent of all wrong doing. Maybe she can even spin it enough to cover BC Rail payoff.
    1. RichardF_4221 posted on 03/02/2013 11:24 PM
      @miltw Classic Government tactic actually.
They all get caught in the cookie jar these days.
Don't let yourself believe that it's just Liberals, NDP or even Bloc Quebecois (sorry seperatists that shouldn't be allowed to serve Canada...another topic...isn't it treason to swear to do your best for a country and have destroying the country in the back of your mind and actions?...yes definitely another topic)...

They all do it, they all try to prove they're doing due diligence. Don't blame the party, or the participants, blame the system. Blame the 50% of voters that don't show up every election.

so entertaining to read comments on here at times. some just comment on the system. some comment on the situation. some just can't get beyond their own partisan views to see the whole picture. if you focus on one tree in the forest, the rest off the woods will be cut down around you.
    1. ChrisM_18 posted on 03/03/2013 09:03 AM
@RichardF_4221 There are tow types that comment here, those that worship at the church of the NDP and those who turn a blind eye to the nefarious dealings of Christy and co and keep voting these crooks in to maintain status quo
Very few people have the sense or foresight to see that voting for an independent candidate that can truly represent them at the legislature is the only way to change this mess!
  11. Newshound59 posted on 03/03/2013 11:25 PM
Politicians are slimey. People should vote for the candidate they think will best represent them honestly and fairly and get rid of these party politics.

Minority governments for a decade or two would sort these liars out.
    1. RichardF_4221 posted on 03/03/2013 11:53 PM
@Newshound59 Vote for who will do the best for your community. Ask the candidates hard questions about what you care about, not what the media has decided we care about.
