B-C Liberals have replaced Sukh Dhaliwal with a new candidate in Surrey Panorama, but it wasn't without some drama behind the scenes.

As Surrey Councillor Marvin Hunt becomes the Liberals new guy in the riding, it turns out it was at the expense of a familiar name.

Sources tell CKNW former B-C Conservative Party dissident Doctor Allison Patton was also in the running for the nomination.

It has been confirmed that Patton recently took out a membership with the B-C Liberals.

A source also says Patton was given the impression some time ago she would get a shot at a nomination for the Liberals.

It's also worth noting Hunt was acclaimed without a nomination race or subsequent vote by riding Liberals.

Sukh Dhaliwal was removed as candidate in the riding after running afoul of Revenue Canada.

Patton had her B-C Conservative membership revoked for opposing Leader John Cummins, which led to a court battle.

If Marvin Hunt wasn't just another political opportunist, he would be running for the Green Party.

When he was a member of the Metro Vancouver Water Committee, he presided over the dismantling of the watershed management program because of pressure from environmentalists. Even though there were scientific, evidence-based reviews stating that the watershed should be actively managed, Mr. Hunt ignored that and sided with environmental extremists. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Cloverdale Rodeo Association when that Association banned many rodeo events because of pressure from animal “rights” fanatics.

Marvin Hunt will not serve the public interest if elected as an MLA.

@RobK_3 No, Marvin is a true conservative. Retired church minister, trusted city councilor, and proud supporter of city programs.

Will be so glad to ensure I avoid his name on the civic ballot! Now just have to hope that those in Surrey Panorama are smart enough to do the same.
