The federal government has announced the approval of another long-term export licence for liquefied natural gas on the West Coast.

Speaking at an international LNG conference in Vancouver, Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver says this is the third such licence approved since 2011.

"The 25-year licence for up to 24 million tonnes of LNG to be exported per year is the largest licence granted so far."

In last week's budget, the B.C. government said LNG exports overseas could bring in billions in revenue.

And the Premier has been cheerleading that plan for weeks.

Between the ground water pollution from fracking to the large amount of energy required to liquefy and transport natural gas, Not to mention China will find their own frackable deposits. The expert on CKNW this morning said this won't be online until 2020 or 2021. I think the window of opportunity will be gone. T2D is right Russia is a whole lot closer and they don't have the "Western Wilderness Committee.

    Election stick and carrot.

@MichaelD_10 Did you notice that while he was gushing over the future prospects of LNG and all the economic benefits, the expert guest would not provide an estimate of what the LNG price would be when exports begin?

      His reason?

That was too far in the future to accurately predict!!!
