An Abbotsford police officer faces a public hearing Monday to determine whether he gets to keep his job.

Constable Adam Page pleaded guilty in April to pushing a thirty-seven year old shoplifter during an arrest in 2009.

The hearing will determine whether he gets to keep his job, or if he's going to get canned.

Page reportedly pushed the man so hard the wall was dented.

He received a conditional sentence and one year of probation.

An internal police investigation found page abused his authority as an officer.

Page has been on administrative duty since 2010.

Pushing ? That's a fairly benign term for some fairly physical behaviour ! Perhaps the term should be "ramming" ? That more aptly portrays the aggressive action that results in a wall being dented

The next time some cop takes out his baton and knocks some kid on the side of the head - should the action be described as a "tap" on the head ?

@ChrisM_18 Constable Adam Page has been a very dedicated Police officer
in the Abbotsford community and perhaps, the constant
revolving door system, which continually releases these
chronic offenders had a part in his having enough.

Having said that, he should never have initiated the level
      of force onto the offender.

However, we are all human and we make mistakes and let
us keep in mind, how many times has this offender been
      apprehended in the past?

Risks......there are always risks, when one engages in
      dysfunction and unruly behavoirs.

@ChrisM_18 Apparently a police investigation agrees that this officer went to far.I am forced to accept that. However,I think you are making a huge mistake by try to deny the police the right to use reasonable force.I sense,ChrisM_18,that you have no use for authority of any kind. But in the absence of any discipline from the courts,I take no issue with this officer or the actions he took.IN SPITE of what the internal investigation decided. If we cannot jail and re-hab some of these low lifes.it's only a matter of time before the police will not have to beat the crap out of them. The general public will beso PO's,that they wil do the job themselves.Honestly,if I was cought shop lifting,I would be to ashamed to complain about a police officer that treated me roughly.
I stand with the officer.Give him back his job.Fire the judges who refuse to do theirs, and most of these problems go away.
