Dix: NDP government would allow compensation for pre-1974 Woodlands residents

An NDP Government would allow all victims of abuse at New Westminster's Woodlands School to apply for compensation.

That announced by party leader, Adrian Dix.

"And I think it's time to stop using legal technicalities against the survivors of Woodlands School and to bring this matter to a close."

Only victims who went to Woodlands after August 1, 1974 have been considered eligible.

Dix says he doesn't think compensation for additional victims will add significantly to government's costs.  

He says the government expected there would be more people eligible, and says many victims have passed away..and so the original amount of money set aside for compensation should cover these additional victims.

    This was a terrible chapter of abuse at Woodlands. Many of those affected have been rightfully helped by the class action suit.
    To use these events as a vote grabber is extremely disturbing.

    So let's clarify, CC want to donate to Bollwyood 12 mil, 15 mil to narsasiatic advertisements, 130 mil. To an art school 1.5 mil to advertise about how great our new holiday is, like we weren't aware (more narsicism) ...what does Mr. Dix want to do? ..help people of ALL groups who are in need or who have been wronged.....

    gee I wonder who to vote for?

    Wow! The comments from the NDP'er's. What is the NDP trying to hide?
    B.C. NDP is in serious trouble heading into the election.

    They are nowhere near the 49% plus of the majority vote needed and Greg Selinger in Manitoba and Darrell Dexter in Nova Scotia are only more trouble for a struggling opposition party, in B.C.

    The biggest mistake is yet to come. Mr. Fabrication man, himself, Brian Topp.

    I want some compensation too!
    i feel I have been wronged by numerous governments and corruption all my life and that amounts to much money to cover the victimization I feel I have been subject too!!!!
    Seems WE are always paying for somebody elses mistakes
