BC's Justice Minister  says 14 drivers given roadside driving bans after faulty readings by breathalyzers will be cleared.

Shirley Bond says the files have been reviewed by the office of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.

She says each file is being looked at to determine what else may need to be done, including reimbursement.

"This was an error and we have a responsibility and the Port Moody Police Department has a responsibility to ensure that appropriate protocols are in place."

Port Moody Police have said 14 bans in 2011 were the results of faulty readings.

    That's all that were wrong????
I remember as a long term City of Vancouver employee. all the radar units that were left on the trunks of police cars at Cambie Yards that bounced on the ground as they "light the tires up when leaving" and "thinking, how accurate can they be"????? Could be the same no minds using these things to blow into. And no it's not sour grapes, I have not had an impared charge or 24 hr suspension. Some of these guys are not the brightest on the block. I worked with a lot of them but not in the police departmnet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is likely the tip of the iceberg. How many others lost their licence, their car, and have increased insurance premiums as a result of faulty meters?

@JD_9814 This is not a concern for efficiency minded politicians. Lets make the policeman the investigator, the prosecutor, and judge - Who needs a court system to protect rights?

If it saves money - let there be a few victims of injustice.
