A B-C man who shot and killed four people including a police officer back in 1980 has applied for day parole.

Back when he was 34 years old, Steve LeClair got kicked out of a bar in Vancouver, returned with a gun, and shot dead three people.

He also hijacked a car, drove to the Richmond RCMP detachment, and fatally shot a constable.

After spending 32 years in prison, he's applying for unescorted day passes into the community, to spend time with his wife.

The two member National Parole Board panel could not agree on whether to grant his request, considering the progress he has made with the gravity of offence.

So a date for a new hearing will be set, to be heard again at the minimum security Ferndale Institution.

Why is the parole board having a problem with this. Here is a guy who was no kid at the time, 34 years old, goes home gets a gun dives back to a bar murders 3 people get in his vehicle and drives all the way from Vancouver to Richmond and murders a cop. Now he wants our to be with his wife. So sad too f-ing bad. The only way he should ever get out is feet first in a pine or cardboard box. People like this need to be kept locked up. Four people dead and who knows how many lives effected by this action. He is done. Easy decision what is the problem.
