The BC Government and Service Employees' Union says job action will start Monday at Lifelabs' Patient Service Centres in BC on a rotating basis.

The union says the action comes after day long mediated talks at the Labour Relations Board Saturday failed.

They say the major issues are wages and the employer demanding that members accept concessions.

Job action at most locations starts Monday morning and goes into Tuesday afternoon.

      @Ron_26 In Vancouver we have BC Biomedical Laboratories Ltd that are going to be bought out by Lifelabs Patient Service.This is probably to do with workers paying for the merger! Lifelabs said there would be no workers impact or lay offs,now we will see! Always, blame the union why not put some blame on the company seems they are rolling i the doe.Emergencies are handled by hospitals,they seem to make you wait there also!

    This is utterly disgusting. For many of these smaller communities, it's the only option and they are going to be struck more than one day. How does inconveniencing someone with a possible life threatening conditon put pressure on the gov't?

    Disgusting union behaviour!

      @DonS_3209 Completely disagree with you.

      And, if it is life-threatening, they can go to the nearest hospital.
      Yes, I know it might be a long drive, but that is just what they will have to do. Who heads to Lifelabs when they are in a "possible life threatening" situation???

      @DonS_3209 It was this "disgusting union behaviour" that provided workers in Canada to fair wages, safe working conditions and compensation for injury, and equitable labour relations.

      You need to educate yourself on the history and purpose of organized employees. This may help:
