Transportation Minister asking other operators to fill Greyhound's holes

Now that a major commercial bus operator is cutting service to rural parts of BC, the Transportation Minister is encouraging other companies to fill the void.

Mary Polak says she can't force Greyhound to cancel cuts, but she's still working to improve service across the province.

"There are private carriers who are expressing interest to us. Again, the real challenge here for BC Transit or any operator is the combination of distances in sparse populations."

Greyhound is currently dealing with numerous complaints about bad service over the holidays.

Hey, why! Not try a bud car service share those tracks that are still ours with the Now CN rail we still own the tracks so they tell us ! Haul some passengers on a freight train going North. use some Bud cars like they have in Lillooet if they have a train tracks use them between freight trains? You are forcing people to have cars in the rural areas, this, just might do the trick, until the Liberal/Con of the coalition hear of it and shoot it down at every turn! Go NDP Go

The mis-government of B.C. wants other operators to fill the void left by Greyhound? How can that happen, didn't Greyhound leave those route precisely because there are other operators running those routes? It's only a bus service folks, how hard can it be to run?
