The pricey tab to renovate BC Place Stadium is about to get a going over by BC's Auditor General.

NDP Tourism Critic Spencer Chandra-Herbert says he has recieved a letter from Auditor General John Doyle after asking his office to launch an audit into BC Place costs.

"They are going to do a fact finding exercise look at the budgets, look at those kinds of things, and then based on what they find they may do an even fuller investigation. I think that is good news I think taxpayers deserve more information than the Liberals will give it is well past time that this project, especially a project that looks like it went five times over budget, gets the scrutiny."

Chandra-Herbert says Doyle did not provide a timeline for when he will launch the fact finding mission or how long it would take.

The province says the stadium came in under budget at 514-million dollars but the NDP says the cost estimate in 2008 was just 100-million.

Funny how Chandra-Hebert calls for an audit into the BC Place costs, only after reporter Bob Mackin has done all the heavy lifting. Where was the NDP while the renovations where taking place?

Too bad we likely will not have the results until after the election; maybe that's why Doyle was terminated.

NDP concept if infrastructure projects is always minimalist, unless such involves their chosen few. The costs for BC Place are high, and such was supposed to have been offset by the construction of a hotel/casino complex. However the NDP led Vancouver council killed that financial resource.

The Dippers have zero sense of economics at all levels of their family.

@StephenG_3 if your right, i shows that the Liberals failed to get the hotel/casino complex into place prior to commiting money to BC Place - that is not good business planning in my books.

By: Please tell the readers why the Glen Clark NDP government spent more taxpayer dollars on the Vancouver Island Inland project than the Bill Bennett Social Credit government spent taxpayer dollars on the Coquihalla Highway project.
The Coquihalla was solid mountain terrain in comparison to Vancouver Island terrain.
Give logical reasons to back up your reasons, not the typical shooting from the hip hogwash, you are so capable of doing.

@joes_2868 Joes...The Coquihalla was long but not complex too build, with exception of the Toll Booth too Othello(portion was KVR). Everything is expensive on the Island, including Road building. Would you like too mention the Sea-to-Sky highway? Olympic legacy you know!

Why is it, everytime there is a big stink in Victoria regarding doing something stupid, or peeing away money, Rich Coleman's pudgey kisser fills my 50" Sony? Just curious. He is like a stink magnet, I guess.
