A man in his 80s is in hospital in grave condition following a house fire in North Delta this morning.

Battalion Chief Mike Richardson says his department responded to the fire at 86th Avenue near Scott Road Just just after 6:30 a.m.,

"It was a fully involved house with flames coming out the window. They made entry into the house, quickly extinguished the flames and found one patient inside."

Richardson says the man is being treated for smoke inhalation and severe burns.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
