A Vancouver Police Dog is recovering from stab wounds in an emergency animal clinic after helping apprehend a robbery suspect.
The 7-year-old dog named Teak was tracking the suspect who had attempted to hold up the Esso gas station at Fraser Street and Marine Way.
When police tried to arrest the man, he slashed the dog with a knife, causing serious injuries.
The twenty-year-old Vancouver man is facing charges for assaulting the dog, along with robbery and weapons offenses.
He was arrested and taken to jail.
Teak is resting comfortably after surgery. He will be retired from police service.
