The DJ who asked the Premier about being a MILF in December and was let go from his Courtney station yesterday is finally speaking out.

Speaking on CKNW's Simi Sara show Justin ‘Drex’ Wilcombes explained what he would have said if his former employer had given him the opportunity to speak instead of muzzling him after the incident.

"I would have apologized to the Premier. There was no offense ever meant to the premier or the office of the Premier.  It was just meant to be light hearted and a little bit of fun.  That's all it was it was never meant to be blown out of proportion which it was.

Wilcombes says he doesn't think he asked anything wrong - adding that it was appropriate for the station he was on.

He's now picking up some shifts on CKNW's sister station the Fox.

The question this man asked is never construed as "lighthearted". It's 2013, not 1913. Treat women as equals. Don't act like a neanderthal. It cost you your job.

BTW, the Fox just lost one of their listeners--me.

Didn't know what a MILF was till our beloved Premier answered the question. Which if she truly supported womens rights, she would have said it is inappropriate and refuse to respond. But she just can't help herself...always has to open her big yap.
If he hadn't asked the question we would all be screaming censorship!
It really made me wonder if the Sir Richard Branson fiasco was her doing as well....just seems to be too much of a coincidence? It was Christie both times.
I'm about to put on my body armour now for the deluge of comments this will generate from the Christie supporters :)

@bhappy I wouldn't be too concerned about a backlash; there can't be too much said about the truth - it's in the perception of our Premier which we as a province need to be concerned about.

@bhappy The Christy / Branson interview was extremely embarrassing for me.
I still don't know what MILF is

If you are in public office you have to expect the unexpected. The question may have been somewhat colored but the entire event blown out of proportion.

I think this radio show host was treated far to harsh, as it is the year 2013.

@RonE_1902 Nothing truer can be sad; as a former braodcaster herself she of all people should have, not only realized this, but should have been prepared for it. It's her own irresponsible and unprofessional response that needs to be brought into question. She should be fired not the DJ and the spineless company he worked for is just that - SPINELESS.

That some people can justify this kind of crude "humour" speaks volumes for how dumbed down our culture has become. There was a time when radio dj's could actually be funny without being this crude and degrading. Ths station was correct to gas this guy, and it shows how far the NW-Corus outfit has sunk that they would employ a mindless loose cannon like this guy.

@Jartann What are you talking about??????
      They already employ bro jerk!!!!!!!!!!!

@Jartann Not to hurt your feelings but were you born before the year 1900?

Welcome to 2013 and if you are in politics trauma doll hand outs are not an option.

VISTA strikes again. In June they fired their morning DJ in Campbell River, after he had won an award for his Social Media effort in gather 4 trailer truck loads of food for the local food bank. The even gave the same, lame, excuse and they never even gave him an actual reason for the firing. Dave had become a Social Media phenom in less than a year and had the station being listened to across North America and into Europe. They lost a whole bunch of advertisers in Campbell River and I expet they will lose a bunch in Courtenay now. Epic fail.

There's respect for your premier and there's respect for women. Some people have a hard time understanding that politicians are still people.

any decent professional would have kept control of the conversation and refused to answer the question.

@BY: What exaclty is the point? Bro Jake is a no class jerk, so they have employed another one. Big deal.

@RonE_1902: That the Premier was on the receiving end is irrelevant to me. I disagree with many of her policies and the Liberals made a mistake voting her to be their leader. It is classless and tasteless to discuss this topic on air with any woman. And a culture that sees this as fun and witty is dumbed down and that should not depend on what year someone was born.At one time, people in radio were entertainers who did not need to laugh out loud at their own "humour" in order to remind listeners that something funny had just happened. If the humour of personal embarrassment makes people laugh, it says more about them.

NW Corus is free to hire who they wish, and I am free to avoid listening to these no talent, no class losers. Just as I listen to boring people like Bill Good and Simi Sara infrequently. The culture is just so dumbed down.

I regret that this matter has come to level; women and inappropriateness aside it is important to maintain freedom of speach. The radio station shoud have stuck by their DJ and it dosen't escape the possibility that the radio stattion received pressure from the BC Libs to do what they did - that's how they work - if they don't like it; it's our way or the highway. I agree with when in politics, expect the unexpected; once again the premier has engaged her mouth before engaging her brain. UnemploedinBC has it right, a professionsl would have dismissed the question and stopped it in it's tracks; so why hasn't the BC Libs fired Branson of Virgin, for his antics - talk about smut. I see this as more disconcerting. Is it because you can't touch someone who has money? Give your head a shake. Crispy Crunch brings much of this on herself and if we have to bring relationships into the fold we should review some of the recent firings of inappropriateness, which has been hushed sushed by the BC Liberal party. I have a great deal of respect for women and the office of the Premier, but I can't say I hold the same regard for those who have held post of late and that's my right. I hold no respect for the current Premier nor her predecessor. It may be argued that they are only people but I have to suggest that their ownself centred egotistical conceited and narsissitical demeanorofaside. I too did not relate to the reference milf and had to look it up. I don't mind anyone referring to me as a goof, fool, idiot, or what ever they may think of my decisions in private, but when it come to my public views, I respect their right to speak their mind - I resent what has happened to this DJ and consider it a slippery slope toward censorship.

you are a goof, fool, idiot!

just not sure if you are a male of femal by your picture
      But in anycase.......certainly NOT F-able
so NOT to worry - this freedom of speech question would never happent to YOU!

Come on Drex ask Simi the SAME QUESTION? I dare you
    And what about BILL???? YULkkkkkkkkk!
Come on DJ - have some FUN
You ask the hard hitting questions that everyone wants to know!

@speakup In crusty's case the spindoc's had to gauge public opinion before doing any thing. If the outcry would have been positive towards the camera queen than ,as with Branson ,nothing would have happened. When the queens court realised that Branson wqas joking and had better taste they proceeded to appear hurt and angry.

As for asking Bill about being any type of milf you have to change the first word to be Moron and the last to Fire than it works.

As for insulting Simi why? she appears to be a capable respectable lady with actual class.

Funny how many people are so familiar with that porn industry term. And such a family friendly industry it is too, with organized crime involvement, rampant drug abuse, blackmail and disease.

@SlimP_9860 I learnt it from my Premier....didn't know what it was till she brought attention to it by answering the question....seems she knows more about the "Family" friendly industry than she has let on. Makes me wonder if it's related to BC Rail???
