Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster has reopened all of its wards closed last week because of a norovirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, a ward at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody remains closed because of the contagious virus, but it could reopen later today.

Similar outbreaks have been reported at Vancouver General Hospital, Lion's Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, and Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

Does this have anything to do with the cleaning done in our hospitals? Would proper cleaning have reduced the spread of this virus?

No, it really doesn't have anything to due with the cleaning. These virus out-breaks are usually caused by people coming in to visit friends or relatives who don't take the time to use the hand sanitizers that are stationed every six feet or so in the hospitals. If people would only realize the only way to stop the spread is to wash your hands before and after visiting a hospital or clinic.
