A Vancouver police officer suffered minor injuries and a cruiser is banged up after a police chace Thursday night.

Vancouver police say it began around 9:45 pm when officers interupted a break and enter in the 3400 block of Lougheed highway.

A man then fled the scene in a stolen pickup truck with a woman in the passenger seat.

Both Vancouver police and Burnaby RCMP were involved in the chase.

Police thought they had the suspect boxed in but the driver smashed into a VPD cruiser forcing his way out.

The truck was later found abandoned at Eton and Willingdon.

Vancouver police are looking for a man in his 50's, about 5'10" tall, with a heavy build.

He was wearing a toque, blue jeans, and might have a cut in his head after ramming the VPD cruiser.

The injured officer was treated by paramedics at the scene.
