BC's deputy RCMP commissioner says a recent poll of how the public perceives the force doesn't paint the whole picture.

Speaking on CKNW, Craig Callens didn't directly comment on re-tweets sent from the RCMP twitter account Wednesday claiming the media "hate" the force and manufactured the story but said the force uses twitter to ensure followers have a balanced and fair account.

And he talked about how the Postmedia News and Global Television poll results have been characterized.

"I am disappointed and perhaps a better word is saddened - because I know first hand the kind of committment and dedication that is being demonstrated accross the province by members of the RCMP."

Callens says the way he sees the poll is that 90% of the 131 people surveyed think officers are doing a fair or great job -- and only 10% think they're doing a terrible job.

He says he takes full responsibility for criticism against senior management.

He says a lot of the problems the public has with the force relate to historical issues like harassment cases.

Seriously delusional -thats all that can be said

I don't trust the RCMP management to do anything but cover their asses - and I certainly expect the worst in any contact with the thugs and bullys that are out on the front line

I actually share Chris's opinion of the senior mgt of the force. For the most part there was a lot of ignore and it will go away or we are the silent force, h and don't forget the guilt by being stationed there, or it doesn't matter what u think, or the age old question, "Waht did you say your rank was??????" The 3rd and 4th hookers always ran the force and if they wanted it screwed up they would involve the commissioned officers. That was a sure thing. The instructions that were received from the N&O ward at 1200 alta vista was sure top piss off the entire system and people who were being dealt with by the system. Thats Nuts and Oddballs for those of u who were not aware. and for those of u who were part of the alta vista crew. Secondly the CO office was not a friendly place to visit under any circumstance unless he was awarding u a medal. The resistance at that level was almost sure to be 100 %.. or damn close...If uncle Bob can change the system I applaud him if he disposes of the civilian members the force will lose a lot of expertise because they will gravitate to other less controversial places in the fed... Happy hunting gentlemen.. Hope u can reverse the present force to a place of integrety and honesty as it was years ago......Trust me I know

It's time to get Commissioner Paulson the big "guy" from Ottawa to chime in. Judging from all the propoganda the BC RCMP have been dishing out over the years, we can say they've mastered the art of illusion better than Houdini and David Copperfield. Calllen's is masterful at the manipulation of words. Look at his comment "e I know first hand the kind of committment and dedication that is being demonstrated accross the province by members of the RCMP." What's that got to do with tea in China? The question the media should've asked is: "committment and dedication" to what? What about all those cops who are named in the harassment lawsuits? Those bad cops who instead of being fired were given government pensions? Where are the investigative reporters when we need them?
