Two donation tins have been stolen from the Bloedel Conservatory in Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Park.

President of Friends of Bloedel Vicky Earle estimates several hundred dollars were in the tins when they were swiped from the front counter.

"The tether that was used to secure both tins had been cut cleanly, like with a knife, so they just noticed that they were missing Friday afternoon."

Earle says one of the tins is used for emergency bird care costs or educational materials for the Conservatory.

The other was for Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary.

She says the funds are crucial especially during this time of year when they see an increase in visitors to Bloedel.

    The tins aren't emptied daily?

If the tether was cut with a knife then string was used. Surprised the tins weren`t screwed into place or tethered with aircraft cable.

If any one has tins sitting out unmonitored they shouldn't be surprised at all. People who steal the Rememberance donations meant for the veterans will steal anything not nailed down and supervised.
Do you have CCTV of your cah areas?
The city police help with advice on preventing casual crime. Ask the professionals! Stop ask for donations and then wondering why they are dropping you are treating the donations very casually.
