A BC Transit bus driver in Saanich was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a struggle with an impatient passenger at 10am on Boxing Day.

It happened as the driver was assisting a passenger in a wheel chair off the bus, when the twenty one-year old man kept trying to push past.

The driver told the man he could exit by the back door, but he persisted, so the driver blocked his exit to prevent injury to the wheelchair bound rider.

The man then struck the bus driver in the head, and the two ended up tumbling to the floor in a struggle.

Other bus passengers and pedestrians restrained the unruly man until police arrived.

He's now spending the night in custody before going before a judge Thursday.

He couldn't wait for a wheelchair bound passenger to get off the bus - when he could have got off via the rear exit. - this goes beyond the loutish behaviour we have come to expect from young kids - he must have some mental problems. !

@ChrisM_18 Just another liberal trying to get ahead of the traffic! we are raising our Kids to be No.1.This is what you get rude jackasses. My father was murdered in a home invasion in Penticton by a 16yr old but he was egged on by others to Job him, only one was charged and did his three yrs! This entitlement is fostered by parents who think their kid is better and be first at all costs!

Another example of a young adult who obviously was not taught manners along with social skills. Hope the Judge throws the book at him. Totally disgusting action by this kid!

@StephenG_3 I agree with both you and Mike - again parents are not parenting! In my day we were taught to be helpful and if we saw the bus driver helping thee person in a wheel chair we would offer to assist

Maybe karma will play a hand here - this young hoodlum may end up in a wheel chair someday and then he will see how cruel the world can be

They should get Transit Security like we have here. I hope the judge gives the guy jail time!

All of times people do wait for my wheelchair to setting in but so many times I've missed Skytains cause so many people can't deside what side to get off it or worst there are people sitting on the disable spot. One time I got fed up and waited with the doors bang'n on me and one guy yelling at me that the train was full.. which it was not if the girl stud up and poor him would move back, I held up the train for 2 minutes waiting for security, I gave up but won't forget the aggressive man who yelled at me.

@mickeym_2864 Good for you for delaying progress for 2 minutes - and. Shame on the skytrain users for being so insensitive . The lack of compassion they show speaks to theiir self centered behaviour

I would like to know if this was another "single mom" male., who never learned how to behave like a man because there was no role model at home.

@RayA_5 really?that is your comment? and EXCUSE?
maybe the REAL PROBLEM is that
