There are still a lot of unanswered questions over two appeals of the recent Tsawwassen First Nation election results.

TFN Chief Adminstrative officer Doug Raines says he still can't reveal who is behind the two seperate challenges.

"At this time we have kept that, because of the procedures the judicial council has put in to place, confidential. I am trying to get a reading from them now on what is public and what isn't once I have that from the judicial council I will be able to share that."

However Raines says the judicial council will hear the applications soon.

"They are scheduling a hearing for later this month and then they would reserve their decision and then we would wait for that outcome."

The September fifth election saw 23 year old Bryce Williams beat long time Chief Kim Baird by nine votes.

Among the potential decisions by the judicial council is the ability to overturn the election results.

hahahaha - so the FN cannot even get along with THEIR OWN?
They seem to make up their own rules (traditions) as they go along.
23 year old beats the old guy!!!! - hahahahahaha
.......sounds like Obama power all over again!
Council gets to overturn the election - if they are not happy with results????
    Am I reading this right?
WOW - and they want to be treated 'fairly"

Why is anyone surprised - The chiefs have stealing from their own people leaving them in abject poverty forever so why believe them now - what a joke!

First off, speakups comment sounds so sickeningly republican its not even funny.

1- Kim Baird is a woman
2- I highly doubt you would know a First Nation tradition or the value of it to a people even if it kicked you in the ass.
3-Also this is an article on an election result that could have been potentially skewed by incorrect polling information before the election occurred.
4- As a constitional right all TFN members have the right to vote in the election and so the appeal is on the grounds of whether or not this incorrect information requires a do over of the voting or if alternate procedures need to be taken place in the future to correct the situation.

5- Im not sure what you mean by the Obama comment, but if 50 percent of electors in the US election were told to show up to vote on the wrong date and time, that result would be held to task as well.

So Anne if you statement is correct, then how is that different from any government on earth ? Also you need to do a bit more research about all the positive things going on in the TFN community as a result of Kim Bairds work before making such a broad and generalized statement.
