Political newcomer Matt Toner is the NDP Candidate for Vancouver-False Creek after beating out Park Board Commissioner Constance Barnes Saturday.

Insiders say the difference was only six votes.

Riding President Neil Monckton says around five hundred members were eligable to vote.  About half cast a ballot.

"Both sides worked very hard to get out their vote.  And I think that everybody saw that it comes down to who had the best ground game and that was clearly Matt Toner."

A representative for Barnes earlier said they were concerned over who was allowed to vote, and intended to take legal action.

Another representative now says that's not the case and they wish Toner well for the May election.

Fascinating - in that if only 250 people voted ,and the difference was 6 votes that means that 131 people voted for Mr Toner vs 119 for Ms Barnes.
Given the likely scenario of an NDP win in April - this means Mr Toner will get the opportunity to start lining his pockets courtesy of a very small group of friends.

      @ChrisM_18 Don't fool yourself.

Only a small group of Liberals, also, came out to
      vote

      119 Liberals vs 131 NDP

So, if the Liberals had won, does that mean Turner
would have been lining her pockets courtesy of a
      small group of friends.

The Liberals need to be replaced.

You cannot fix a problem with the same thinking,
      used to create the problem.

@WilfredM Dix and co don't even have to try - the Liberals are so busy shooting themselves that they are doing all of the campaigning on behalf of the NDP

@WilfredM I tend to agree with GaryM, the Liberals are doing an excellent job of wining the election for the NDP. Look at the nonesensical posts of supporters like Joes 2868, and their disregard for the Publics concerns regarding BC Rail etc.

The only hope they have is if they immediately replace their leader, call an inquiry into BC Rail, and demonstrate a true sense of leadership. All the self righteousness expressed by their supporter and the feeble efforts to demonize the NDP will not work.

NDP can only form government with 49% of the popular vote. 48% and under, they remain the official opposition party. Do the math, THAT MEANS DO YOUR RESEARCH, AND YOU WILL SEE WHY.

@joes_2868 You won't catch me votig NDP - but I can see a sure bet coming here - the Liberals are going to be decimated in the polls and the NDP will get a cake walk into Victoria

So far it has shown those that voted are not interested in having Vision Vancouver candidates because they are screw ups in the City of Vancouver, that gives two down Meggs and Barnes sorry that is not correct the Chinese banna or immigrant did not win either I forgot his name so that is 3
