Final weekend for downtown Sears

It's been called Vancouver's ugliest building -- and tomorrow, the downtown Sears closes its doors for good.

And not even the employees seem too upset.

Brian Stone has managed the store since it opened as Sears 12 years ago.

Before then it had been an Eatons location.

Stone says more than 25-million dollars in inventory has been sold over the past several months -- and the store is almost completely empty.

As for the mood among the store's 300 or so employees?

"The workers are extremely happy actually, they have great morale. All the associates were offered positions in other Sears stores, or they could take a severance package."

The Sears building is in for a big facelift.

Nordstorm is coming to town -- bringing with it a massive redevelopment of the location.

It's set to open in 2015.

Am I the only one who did not think this building was ugly? I lovd the big wondows

It should be great to have Nordstroms. Wonder if they will be able to find any Canadian employees who are willing to provide the service this department is known to provide?

@AnneH_4 I did not mind it at all. Ever seen Macy's and Bloomingdale's buildings in the USA? I look forward to the new design taking shape, but I did not mind the old Sears look either.
