The Vancouver park board has unanimously approved the concept plans to a massive redo of Hastings Park.
The site of the Pacific National Exhibition grounds will soon host soccer fields, play areas, a greenway for cyclists and pedestrians – even an artificial beach for volleyball.
Park board commissioner Sarah Blythe says there's something for everyone.
"It has recreation for youth, it has recreation for field sports users, it has recreation for adults – an adult playground, like they have in New York."
Under the plan, the park space on the site will expand from 27 acres to 76 acres.
