A Canadian man who served five years in a Thailand jail for sexual offenses against children has been arrested by RCMP.

RCMP Cpl. Matt Van Laer says 37-year-old Christopher Neil was taken into custody as soon as he arrived at the Vancouver International Airport Friday night.

"We felt it was important for people to know that Mr. Neil was coming back, and we as a police agency would be doing something about it-- keeping our eyes on him."

Van Laer says Neil does not have a criminal record in Canada, but was arrested so public safety concerns can be addressed by the courts.

Neil will appear in front of a judge in Richmond, Monday.

@ChrisM_18 I guess I am missing something. No criminal record in Canada. So what, what has he been arrested for. Are there charges pending? Where were the children abused, in Canada or Thailand? If they were all in Thailand, he has served the sentence there and is likely free to wobble around the globe, until he abuses again, I would think.
