The family of a Vancouver man stuck in a Kelowna hospital after a plane crash near Penticton is glad he's coming home to continue his treatment.

Vincent Hannay's family has been pushing to get him to Vancouver General Hospital since getting out of Kelowna General Hospital's intensive care unit two weeks ago.

After 10 days of lobbying for the move his uncle Rick Hannay is glad a doctor has finally accepted his nephew as a patient.

"If it's true that Vincent has a doctor that has accepted him then we're very, very grateful."

While an airlift has been organized by BC Bedline, Vancouver Coastal Health says the hospital still needs a bed to open up.
