A North Vancouver teacher-librarian has completed 22 marathons in 22 days to protest the BC Government's Bill 22.

Ian Cunliffe isn't a fan of Bill 22.

In fact, he opposes it so much he ran over 900 kilometres in 22 days.

"The funding cuts we've experienced over the last decade have been so extreme it's like strip mining public education. My kids would have been better off in a classroom 10 years ago."

When asked if he backs BC Teachers Federation president Susan Lambert's comments that outgoing Education Minister George Abbott used his office to attack teachers, Cunliffe said Lambert's comments were understandable, but he wouldn't be throwing anyone under the school bus.

Where would the Liberals get the money for their pet projects?

He might as well have kept on running - what a misguided waste of effort

He ran to prove a point? Woopdy doo! He ran, is feeling in good shape and is a little sore. Running is not a protest. Starving would be better. What a loser!

Well, although he's running for a cause I don't support, at least he's done something to be proud of rather than just grumbling and name calling. Good on him.

@Ron_26 You can do anything "to make a point".

      - He taught to make a point
      - He wrote on the board backwards in protest
      - He did ironman in protest
      - He purchased gas in Bellingham in protest

Good for him that he ran 22 marathons. But that is not a way to protest. His running is not a punishment to the provincial government.

What a terrible waste of time. If he would have done his homework, he would have noticed that the same problems today exist in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. What's funny is that Nova Scotia has a NDP government and the Nova Scotia teachers federation has asked for the Minister of Education to resign. It really makes you laugh when what they are complaining about is exactly happening around them. The NDP premier of Nova Scotia said times are bad, but will turn around eventually, so be patient, patient, patient, not greedy, greedy, greedy.

Great protest, I didn't hear about this until I read it here. I hope he at least raised money for the kids.
