North Vancouver RCMP have confirmed the remains found last night are human.

They were found in a wooded area behind a motel and restaurant on Curling Road, just west of Capilano Road.

Police say the death is being considered suspicious, but the homicide team has still not been called in.

"I think it's fair to say that the discovery of any human remains in the trail system would be treated as suspicious until we've determined the cause of death and been able to identify the individual," says Cpl. Doug Trousdell.

Police have been at the scene since early Saturday evening.
