The jury at the trial of a former B-C Ferries worker accused of causing the deaths of two people has now heard anxious audio evidence of the Queen of the North running aground nearly seven years ago

Radio calls recorded the eveving of March 21st, 2006 and into the early morning hours of the following day started with routine chatter between crew members and a marine traffic operator stationed in the Prince Rupert.

The first sign of trouble came when Kim Bissell heard the ship had run aground and was taking on water.

At 12:26am she heard the words, "We need assistance immediately." 

At 12:33 she alerted the Coast Guard and asked any vessel in Hartley Bay to help.

Bissell is testifying at the trial of Karl Lilgert who is charged with criminal negligence causing the deaths of passengers Gerald Foisy and Shirley Rosette.

Their bodies have never been found.
