Not a bad deal
VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980)

4/19/2009

City hall's new Chief Financial Officer has landed a good gig.

Patrice Impey is receiving the maximum amount in the salary range which sits at just over $220,000. Although the amount might not be exorbitant for a CFO, other perks like an automatic 20 year pension and 2 1/2 months vacation is making some look twice at the deal.

Maureen Bader with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says out of control municipal spending needs to stop, "Awarding the equivalent of 20 years of benefits to a brand new employee shows the city just doesn't have its priorities straight."

Bader says the provincial government needs to set a property tax cap on municipalities and bring civil benefits in line with the private sector.
