Man Charged after Strangling and Beating Herman the Cat
Vancouver/CKNW/AM 980

9/21/2009

A little white cat is lucky to be alive, after being brutally beaten and strangled late last week.

Vancouver Police Constable Jana Mcguiness says officers were doing some beat patrols near Carrall and Hastings when witnesses told them they'd seen a man strangling a cat.

The officers came across a 63- year old man beating a black plastic bag against the wall of a building containing "Herman" the cat.

Harold Aubrey Borgal has been charged with cruelty to animals and one count of breach of an undertaking.

The cat is in the care of the SPCA and is expected to recover.
