One person has died Sunday afternoon following an incident on Granville Ave.
RCMP say it was called to the area of 2 Rd. at Granville after reports of gunfire at around 2:45 p.m.
Officers discovered a crashed vehicle nearby, with a lone deceased occupant.
Inspector Keith Bramhill says there was clear indication of a homicide.
He says the incident is troubling.
“It’s very concerning to the police and the community here in Richmond and to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that we would have such a brazen incident that would result in a homicide here on a Sunday, on a nice sunny afternoon on Mother’s Day.”
The Homicide Investigation Team has been called in.
“Various witnesses have been canvased, and some are being spoken to at Richmond detachment. That evidence is being gathered at this time.”
Police say residents should expect roadblocks as the investigation continues.
