The man who killed two cyclists and his passenger near Pemberton back in 2015 has apologized to the families of the victims.
Samuel Alec pleaded guilty to three counts of impaired driving causing death.
In a tearful statement, Alec says he is taking small steps to make sure he can live his life without alcohol or drugs.
Alec, who was breathing heavily, adds that he has apologized to his creator and three exceptional men.
The court has also heard from Alec’s family and how physical abuse and alcoholism were prevalent in his childhood and adolescence.
The Crown is asking for 12 years behind bars with time served as well as a lengthy driving ban. Defence is asking for two years less a day.
Alec’s fate will be determined on April 28.
