Three landslides caused by heavy rain near White Rock have temporarily stalled Amtrak service between Vancouver and Seattle.
Director of Public Affairs for BNSF Railway Gus Melonas says they came down within a mile and a half of each other onto rail lines along the South Surrey Peninsula.
The largest slide was five feet deep and 30-feet long.
As a result, Amtrak trains won’t be running along that route until at least Friday, Mar. 31.
Melonas says they haven’t seen this kind of slide action in quite some time.
Amtrak will be providing alternate transportation for those impacted.
