Vancouver Police officials are trying to piece together the shooting deaths of a 49-year-old man and a 32-year-old man.
The men, who are known to police, were shot Thursday night sometime before 9:30.
Staff Sgt. Randy Fincham spoke from the scene of East 31st and Inverness on Friday morning.
“We are looking at potential gang connections at this point. This is an extremely quiet neighbourhood in the City of Vancouver; a residential neighbourhood that erupted in gunfire last night. Two men died as a result of that gunfire, so this is extremely concerning to us. It should be extremely concerning to the community as well, to have this level of violence.”
Fincham is hoping those who live in the area will turn in any security footage that might provide officials with any leads in this case.
No arrests have been made, and Fincham could not say if the men were from the area, or were just passing through.
These deaths are Vancouver’s fifth and sixth homicides of the year.
