Metro Vancouver’s homelessness task force is asking the B.C. government to come up with a provincial poverty reduction strategy and for transitional housing for youth ageing out of the foster-care system.
The task force is also calling for more rental housing for households making less than $30,000 a year.
It’s also recommending 1,000 transitional housing units per year between 2017 and 2019 to bring relief from housing waitlists.
The city says shelters in the city are at 97 per cent capacity.
