Would you walk up the Lions Gate Bridge?
Well, you might have the opportunity to by Canada’s 150th birthday.
Legendworthy Quest President Kevin Thomson says he’s working with the Ministry of Transportation to possibly set up guided tours on the bridge.
He says it’s been a two year process.
“We’ll have to install a lot of things that are inside the bridge and up on top of the bridge to be able to keep people secured to a safety system, so those are all new things that need to be introduced. But they’re out of sight, out of mind from regular, other users, of the bridge, which this climb will not impact anybody, it won’t be affecting the car deck.”
Thomson says he first got the idea when he watched a time-lapse video of someone climbing the bridge illegally.
“I got lucky with all of the right people in the room to be able to concoct this idea and everybody seemed to think it was something that we could explore.”
Transportation Minister Todd Stone was not available to comment about the decision.
