It was a chilly night for some stranded motorists on the Coquihalla who will have to wait until about 2:00 PM – at the earliest – to get off the highway.
The icy conditions meant hundreds of motorists have been stranded since Thursday afternoon.
Janna Willison spoke to Global News about her young family’s adventure spending the night on the highway.
“Looking back on this, what is your plan the next time you head out on BC highways?”
“Ahhh, I would probably stay home. Make sure you have lots of water and warm clothes.”
Fortunately, their vehicle had enough gas.
“We did have enough gas and we wanted to make sure we had enough left, so we did turn it on sporadically throughout the night, just to take the edge off and warm us up.”
“…and how are the girls doing this morning?”
“…They’re actually pretty good this morning. They’re pretty excited to say to their friends that they slept in the car for the night.”
Highway crews are bringing food and drinks to motorists.
