President Trump’s executive order to bar entry to the U.S. for certain travelers is throwing a wrench into plans to expand south for a Vancouver-based company’s CEO.
Hamed Arbabioon was born in Iran but has lived in Canada since 2005.
Despite just getting a visa and having permanent resident status, his lawyers have advised him to cancel a planned trip to San Francisco to meet with potential investors.
“They are recommending I don’t go but I’m just going to honestly give it a try because I have already scheduled these meetings and it’s affecting my reputation and our company’s future growth.”
“We’ve been preparing for a U.S. launch since the end of last March. We’ve hired additional resources, but this is really putting everything on hold. Because we can’t really start it unless we’re sure we can have access.”
Even though he’s been advised to stay north, Arbabioon says he still expects to travel to Palo Alto this month, but cautions he’s preparing for the worst.
