Vancouver Police say officers safely destroyed a pipe bomb in East Vancouver Thursday night.
In a statement, they say police stopped a vehicle on East Cordova near Hawks just after 9.
Officers allege the driver told the officer he had a home-made pipe bomb inside the car, prompting officers to call in the explosives disposal unit.
They found the bomb, safely removed it, and destroyed it.
A 33-year-old West Vancouver man, who was driving the vehicle, is in custody.
Officers continue to investigate.
