It’s a heartbreaking end to a Langley family’s search for two dogs who had gone missing this week.
In a Facebook post, Hayley and Jona Legassie say their Rhodesian Ridgeback Luna has been found dead, just 50 metres from where the other missing dog, Safari, was found yesterday.
“Please pray for our three-year-old as she processes and grieves the loss of her “Bubs” and “Pup”. Although we are absolutely shattered from the events of the past few days, we know that God is still good,” states the post.
The couple now believed that the dogs, who disappeared Sunday after apparently breaking through a fence near their Langley property, were making their way back home after being picked up by someone.
“Our theory that answers the most questions is that someone had them and dropped them off at what we call the “Dog Dike” on 264th and 88th and they were making their way home when they encountered a pack of coyotes. Safari escaped the coyotes and fled into the path of an oncoming train. Luna did not escape the pack of coyotes,” they write.
The family says while they’re not leaning towards believing foul play, they continue to have unanswered questions and their hearts are broken.
The couple goes on to thank the community for its support during the search.
