One Air Canada passenger is warning: Always stick with your luggage.
Debbie Parhar explained on CKNW’s Steele & Drex that she boarded a plane, but her bags did not.
Parhar says Air Canada gave her the run around after they assured her that her luggage was on the next flight and would be delivered to her home.
She says it arrived back in Vancouver, but that her bags didn’t make it home.
“Tracking system showed that it landed on inbound carousel 6, to use their terminology, but there’s no trace of it after that. So immediately the agent said you need to file a police report, your luggage was likely stolen.”
And when she spoke to police…
“He confirms for me that yep, two people found your bag was delivered, it hit the carousel, two people took the bag, walked out of the airport, went up the elevator to the SkyTrain.”
Richmond RCMP Constable George said this is not the first time they’ve seen this happen.
“He didn’t have specific statistics but this is something that they do deal with, and he wouldn’t say it was a regular occurrence but he did ask me to get in touch with, or suggested that I get in touch with YVR, because it does happen and they are concerned about the security issues, the openness of it and the easy access to SkyTrain and then you’re gone.”
He said she will most likely never see her luggage again.
