Remember the government said it would use a helicopter to deal with ice bombs on the Alex Fraser bridge if needed?
Well, it’s now shopping for a contractor.
The government issued the request three days ago, and responses must be received by January 27th.
The Purchasing Services Branch of government says the helicopter services will be required to support the Transportation Ministry in the removal of snow and/or ice from bridges, in particular the Alex Fraser.
The government also says the chopper may be used for other weather-related events too, such as avalanches, flooding and landslides.
The contractor must have aircraft with a twin-engine rotary wing, and pilots with a minimum of two-thousand flight hours.
