Six-year-old Adley Hefter is getting a wiener dog, and he has Canucks centre Bo Horvat to thank.
His dad Aaron says they were thinking about getting one to begin with, but needed a sign to be sure.
That’s when the pair cut a deal heading into last night’s matchup with the Arizona Coyotes.
“We made an agreement that if Bo scored, we would move forward with getting a second dog and he decided he wanted a wiener dog – a dachshund – and he came up with the name Hotdog Horvat.”
Things were looking bleak until the third period when Horvat scored a breakaway goal.
Now, Adley is getting the dog, and is feeling just one word: “happy!”
Horvat even reached out to the Hefter family afterward, and it looks like he’ll join them on their quest to go to a dog shelter to help pick out the pup or meet his namesake after.
The Canucks ended the night 3-0 over Arizona, extending their winning streak to five games.
