University RCMP say a family was walking their dog in Pacific Spirit Park in the area of Imperial Drive and West 16th Avenue when their dog emerged with what appeared to be a human bone.
Police attended and testing confirmed the bone was a human bone.
Sgt. Drew Grainger says police will be searching the Imperial Drive and West 16th Avenue area and the rest of the park throughout the day, but conditions are challenging due to the weather.
Grainger says anyone using Pacific Spirit Park should report any suspicious circumstances encountered while travelling through the park.
University RCMP say the origin of the bone is undetermined at this time.
