Poor weather has again kept searchers off the mountain – on the fifth day since a pair of hikers vanished in the Cypress area but search is expected to resume Friday.
Poor weather forced a suspension of the search on Wednesday but Team Leader Mike Danks says they are still hopeful.
“We’re going to stay positive. There is a chance these guys are still alive.”
He says the team is holding out hope that somehow 43-year-old Tin Hou Lee and 64-year-old Chun Sek Lam have managed to stay alive – though admits conditions on the mountain are extreme.
Danks says they’re hoping that the men are holed up at a survivable, lower elevation.
“There’s some pretty serious concerns about exposure to a slide in those conditions. And also just the amount of snowfall that we’ve had has been amazing.”
He says that heavy snow has obliterated any tracks to follow.
