Richmond RCMP say they didn’t need to read the instructions when they busted one of the Lower Mainland’s more unconventional criminal gangs: the Lego gang.
Mounties arrested 16 people as part of its Christmas Blitz, including members of a group that specializes in the retail theft of Lego sets.
Corporal Dennis Hwang says the gang’s activities were noticed by the stores’ loss prevention officers …
“[The officers] work in several different outlets across the Lower Mainland so some of the people may have been on their radar from different locations and they were able to identify them when they came to Richmond.”
“We surmise there’s kind of a ‘theft to order’ for Lego.”
Hwang says the Lego would then be sold on sites like Craigslist.
