A designated driver service says it can’t keep up with the demand this holiday season.
The owner of ‘A Safe Alternative Driving Service’, based in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, says his phone’s been ringing off the hook since the holiday season’s began.
Shawn Meehan expressed the boom in business as a sign that less drunk drivers are getting behind the wheel.
He says he’s running out of drivers.
“We do want to be able to keep the streets safe, we’re trying our best to get to everyone. We do it for the cause more than we do it for the money and all of us have been affected by drink driving over the years, some of us have lost family members, some of us have had family members that have risked other people’s lives. It’s just not worth it.”
Meehan says he hopes to hire another 15 drivers before New Year’s Eve rolls around.
